Tried durian for the first time tonight! I asked the waiter at a local place his opinion on what shake to get and durian came up and he said that durian is "an equired taste" with a smile. We later tried durian and it was ghastly, exotic and good! It tastes like stink and fruit sort of....it would be interesting to combine with mustard! I don't know...maybe I'll be back to your blog! Good first blog...a debut no hitter.....

[...] Take a look at Not For Tourists Guidebook’s New York City page as well as their Washington, D.C. page. I’ve already mentioned that I’m not afraid to admit I enjoy fast food. And you could have guessed that half-priced sushi would make me happy: [...]

I love walking around that part of Elmhurst: great Malaysian, Indonesian and Korean joints for cheap abound.

This is an excellent post, as are some others that I've read of yours. You're in it for more than just the food - you truly dig this city, and all of its' gritty, hidden corners and byways. For this reason, I keep coming back to your site, in keen anticipation of your next entry.

By the way, if you're ever interested in getting a Durian Shake made to order, finagle a fare out to Sunset Park, Brooklyn, and down an ice cold one at Ba Xuyen on 8th Avenue. Their shakes are so cold, they make my heart hurt. While you're there, you might as well sample one of eight or nine superb Banh Mi Sandwiches, served on toasty, crisp bagettes. It's enough to make you forget Quizno's ever existed.

(Where do they get such fresh french bread in Brooklyn anyway?)
