Read today’s Not For Tourists DC Page, and discover a Burmese restaurant with a Palestinian/ Guatemalan/ Irish bartender who serves the strongest vodka tonic in predominantly African-American Silver Spring, Maryland. Oh, and that bartender also happens to be my best friend since 7th grade (but that doesn’t mean that what I wrote about her isn’t true).

thank you big mama. and def, for your complementary comments. i’m blushing. i’m sure it’s difficult to see under my fake-bake tan, but i promise you i am. i always knew something good would come out of pinning you against the women’s bathroom entrance wall at the pool and forcing you to befriend me. happy belated birthday. i save you some MoHingar, Myanmarian Mountain green tea, and a shot of jameson for your next visit.

Yes, for sure Mandalay has the best bar manager in the area!

Who is that beauty in the hat? Insert one inappropriate movie quote and one old school movie reference. If she weren’t my sister I’d post them instead of hinting to them. Anyway, Mandalay has the best burmese food ever and famous fat dave is the best damn cabbie around. I want to try this deep fried candy bar you speak of….take me to NYC…or at least pick me up from the train station.

Dave – don’t you also know the bouncer at that restaurant? Maybe you should write an article about him.
