    Congratulations, Dave!

Your NPR story woke me up at 8:30 AM this morning (Saturday).
And I never get up that early on a Saturday, so it was serendipitous.
One day I’m SO taking your tour.

    Hi Dave,

Love your site and blog. Can’t help but wonder, though, where are all the Bay Ridge joints in your list? Could it be that you don’t know the culinary delights that await you at places like Tanoreen? Or our nearby Chinatown and its rockin’ dim sum palaces?

bay ridge does represent, i just had the best shwarma of my life in bay ridge today/noticeably better than all of the other shwarmas on your list (although i have only tried 3 of 4)

Whoa, whoa there new commenters. Just because I don’t have Bay Ridge on my blog doesn’t mean I don’t like Bay Ridge. I also don’t have Bushwick or Williamsbridge or the Upper East Side or any of Staten Island.

It just means I don’t have any interesting stories about the food in those places. It does not mean I’ve never eaten there or that I’m disrespecting your hood.

True, where did you eat that shawarma? Carol, what is Tanoreen? Also, isn’t Chinatown really in Sunset Park or is there a different one in Bay Ridge I never noticed.

What a terrific story and a great idea for a day in Manhattan. I’m sure that you’re going to get a bevy of calls and bookings. I’m just hopeful I can put some time aside in September or October to fall under the spell of your culinary suggestions. My friends and family are impatient with me because I dislike dining out. (The restaurant rituals of pretentious eateries in major cities really bore me.) Your tour really struck a cord with me as I prefer the unique neighborhood joints that are a part of the cultural heritage of NYC. Hats off!!!

Damn Dave, that NPR piece was excellent – you’re really getting some great coverage these days… rock on.

And now I’m craving jerk shrimp!

    Awesome piece, Davey! Seriously great.

Also, I can vouche that FFD has spent some time in Bay Ridge when I used to live there. He would visit frequently. He even liked it! Is Sally & George’s still there? I loved that damn place.

That is awesome. I remember you always used to say you want to eat so much that you feel drunk years ago. I think i’m in need of a fried chicken bender…

    Drew,

    I’ll DO IT.

I hope I didn’t respond to your challenge too late. I haven’t been a good admin on this site lately. I’m not much a stud when it comes to ayce sushi (my friend Gary is though), but I’ll give it a whirl.
