Fair enough. And, yeah, you're right about Steve's, come to think of it. They do get some attention.

Thanks for the props. I'm honored. Just hit Ba Xuyen last week, with wife and kid in tow. As great as ever. The jackfruit shake alone is worth the price of admission.

Not only Ba Xuyen, but lots of other Sunset Park places are more deserving. The Voice played up a Malaysian joint, name of Belachen, some weeks back. And I've been hearing good stuff about some noodle joints on 60th, and a place called Pacificana that supposedly serves up excellent dim sum.

Wait. She lists out all the places we went on the sidebar along the right side of the story and that's where she mentions Steve's and Ba Xuyen. You gotta click on the first link in this blog, and then press the expand to full size button when you're there and it'll be big enough to read.

Yup. Steve's and Ba Xuyen. I think Lori Rackl has me mention them in her travel blog. Did you read the story on Key Lime Steve in the paper the other week? He had a full page in the Daily News (or Newsday?). He's selling pies to Peter Lugers. Ba Xuyen could use the exposure. But I'll have you know I ALWAYS give you props when I take people to Ba Xuyen on the tour. And it's always a huge hit (that's why I took Lori Rackl there)

"And the key lime tart that's sold out of a warehouse on a pier that looks like the setting for a "Sopranos" whacking. And the grilled pork sandwich and durian fruit shake from a nondescript Vietnamese storefront."

Can I assume that the former is Steve's Key Lime Pie in Red Hook, and that the second is Ba Xuyen in Sunset Park?

Congratulations, Dave, on your growing fame and fortune. Well deserved.

That said, I wish the Chicago Sun Times reporter had taken the time to remember the names of these two wonderful food spots, far less well known than Russ & Daughter and Katz's, and deserving of the exposure. After all, isn't that part of the point?

Let me say this: I love Nathan's Famous. It was inspiration for my self-appointed nick name. I used to vend Nathan's at the Cyclones ball park. But I love the original on Surf Ave and Stillwell in Coney Island. The ones you buy in the store or on qvc or even at the freaking nathan's stand on the boardwalk a block away from the original are nowhere near as good. In fact, they're bad.

Most hot dogs in NYC stink: dirty water dogs. Most hot dogs in Chicago are AMAZING.

I saw Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs on QVC! They're selling them on QVC now?! What do you think of that? I was channel-surfing.
